Frequently Asked Questions

WHAT TYPES OF ISSUES DO YOU HAVE EXPERIENCE WITH?
I work with people struggling with a variety of issues.  Some of these include anxiety, relationship problems,
parenting, grief and loss, trauma, cancer-related issues, depression, behavioral concerns, life transitions,
separation and divorce, and co-parenting.

WHEN DO YOU KNOW IT’S TIME TO SEEK THERAPY FOR YOUR TEENAGER?
It can be hard to know what’s “normal” for the teenage years or when there may be a bigger issue. The
following are behavioral changes that may indicate it’s time to seek professional help: a recent drop in
grades, withdraws from peers and socializing, exhibits poor concentration or inability to focus, doesn’t want
to participate in extra-curricular activities or sports, seems more aggressive or violent, has sad and hopeless
feelings that do not go away, and extreme or intense emotions, overreacting.

HOW LONG IS A THERAPY SESSION?
Sessions are typically 55 minutes.

HOW OFTEN DO I NEED TO COME TO THERAPY?
This depends on your individual situation. Research has shown that the therapeutic relationship is a vital
component in how effective treatment is. To assist in building the relationship and establishing rapport,
weekly sessions are encouraged at the beginning of treatment, and will be reassessed during the process.

HOW MUCH DO SESSIONS COST?
The fee for a 55-minute session is $150.00.

DO YOU ACCEPT INSURANCE?
I am an in-network provider for Cigna and Blue Shield.  For those with other insurance, I am an out-of-
network provider.  Depending on your insurance plan, they may or may not reimburse for mental health
services with out-of-network providers.  Although I require full payment at the time of service, I am happy to
provide a statement to submit to your insurance company for possible reimbursement.  To find out if your
insurance plan reimburses for mental health services, contact your carrier directly and ask about out-of-
network, outpatient mental health benefits.

CAN WE DO VIDEO SESSIONS IF I’M IN ANOTHER STATE?
I offer telehealth/video sessions for those that are in California at the time of session. My license does not
extend to people residing outside of California.
